O.J. Simpson to Confess to Oprah Winfrey?

A sensational new report claims O.J. Simpson has confessed to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, and will tell his story to Oprah Winfrey.

The Daily Mail reports on a National Enquirer story that said a producer for Winfrey reached out to Simpson, and Simpson told the producer that he killed the pair in self-defense.

Winfrey recently said that one of her regrets was that she never interviewed Simpson and got him to confess.

"Oprah has been in touch with O.J. for the past year," a source told the Enquirer. "He has always been a big fan of hers, but for a long time he was reluctant to say he did the crime or give the details of how it happened."

But that all changed in the reported conversation with the producer.

"He told the producer, "Tell Oprah that yes, I did it. I killed Nicole, but it was in self-defense. She pulled a knife on me and I had to defend myself,'" the source said.

According to the source, this is the story that Simpson told the producer:

After Nicole snubbed Simpson at that family dinner that fateful night in 1994, "O.J. said he went home and kept getting angrier and angrier and worked himself into an absolute rage."

Simpson allegedly told the producer that he "didn't like the way she treated me in front of the kids at the restaurant. I didn't like that she was routinely having guys have sex with her at her condo with the kids there. I went over there to give her a piece of my mind."

When Simpson got to Nicole's condo, no one answered the door. He said he started banging on the door and shouting. Finally Nicole answered the door -- carrying a kitchen knife.

Simpson reportedly told the producer, "She was yelling 'go away! Go away!' And waving the knife around at me. At one point she was lunging at me with the knife and I was just trying to talk to her. Nicole stepped out of the apartment -- slashing the knife in the air.

"I was in such a rage that something just snapped. I couldn't take her constant taunting of me with other men or her using drugs and drinking while my kids were living with her. I went berserk. Before I knew what I was doing I took the knife away from Nicole and started slashing at her. I cut her over and over again until she was lifeless. I was shocked at my own anger -- I had killed the woman I had loved for so long."

Simpson said Goldman then showed up and found Nicole's dead body, and he tried to attack Simpson. That's when Simpson killed Goldman, he claims.

If Simpson does tell this story to Winfrey, the interview would happen at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada, where he is serving a nine-year prison sentence for a botched Las Vegas robbery.

Simpson was famously acquitted in his criminal trial. Regardless of what he now says, he cannot be tried again -- that would be double-jeopardy.
