NY Times: Anthony Weiner's Wife Huma Abedin Pregnant

| by Mark Berman Opposing Views

During his news conference on Monday admitting his "inappropriate" online relationships with several women, Rep. Anthony Weiner said he and his wife were committed to staying together. Now we may know why -- she is reportedly pregnant.

The New York Times cites "three people with knowledge of the situation" who say Huma Abedin is pregnant with the couple's first child.

The 35-year-old Abedin is said to be in the early stages of pregnancy. The Times said the couple has disclosed the pregnancy to close friends and family.

Abedin, who is a longtime top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, has not spoken publicly about her husband's online scandal. She returned to work this week and is accompanying Clinton on a trip to Northern Africa.

Weiner and Abedin will celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary next month.

“We will weather this,” Weiner said at his news conference. “I love her very much, and she loves me.”
