Carl Paladino, a Republican candidate for governor in New York, is catching flack for a practice in which many Americans take part -- email forwards. The problem is that Paladino's forwards were reportedly offensive.

According to a left-wing political blog called WNYmedia.net, the millionaire businessman's forwards ran the gamut:

"Many of the emails included anti-Obama birther claims, and others were just pictures of naked women... Some of Paladino’s emails contain hardcore pornography. One contains a video clip involving bestiality. Other emails display an attitude of misogyny or blatant racism."

One email was called "Obama Inaugural Rehearsal," featuring video of African tribal dances. According to the blog, one of the recipients wrote back to Paladino:

"It's one thing not to like Obama's policies. It's another to be a flat-out racist. Hard to believe it's 2008 and we're still seeing this garbage from people."

Paladino reportedly replied:

"To me it's just humor. I'm not racist and have never related Obama's color to my political taste for him. I'm not ethnic sensitive to ethnic humor, dago, spic, polack whatever we hear the humor every day."

In a statement, Paladino campaign manager Michael Caputo did not dispute the report:

"Carl Paladino has forwarded close friends hundreds of e-mail messages he received. Many of these e-mails he received were off color, some were politically incorrect, few represented his own opinion, and almost none of them were worth remembering."

Paladino is described as a "maverick," who has said in the past that he has no intentions of running a politically correct campaign.
