Notre Dame's Obama Invitation is an Outrage and a Scandal
Submitted by Cardinal Newman Society on May 8, 2009
(Editor's Note: Notre Dame's decision to invite President Barack Obama to speak at its upcoming graduation has touched off a firestorm of controversy within the Catholic community. Here is Fr. John Corapi on why it was a mistake.)
Fr. John Corapi thanks signers to a petition at NotreDameScandal.com and urges Catholics to continue the fight for Catholic campuses. For more information on this scandal and to sign the petition visit the Notre Dame Scandal website.

There are many Protestants shocked and angered by this travesty too.
Dr. Keyes set an excellent example for all Americans with the strength of his faith and convictions.
First of all I'd like to say: what an impressive Clint Eastwood impression.not the content of this rant, but the acting was Oscar material.
The message itself was pure comedy, and that's what makes this piece even more enjoyable. I watched it three times.
All in all, thank you for very amusing 20 minutes. I haven't laughed that hard and long for a very long time.
Thank you Fr. John Corapi. It's always amusing to listen to Catholics talking about moral and the value of life.
No US president should be have any religious bias.
The US constitution forbids any government official - the president included - from pandering to any religion and any of the thousands of gods that mankind has invented in its image.
All professions who deliver services to the public should serve the public to the full extent of the law and not hide behind their particular flavor of superstition to refuse to deliver lawful services.
Citizens have the right to chose which - if any - superstition they want to believe in and that superstition (for example the catholic religion) can then try to impose their rules on them but it is utter nonsense to require any government to impose their immoral rules on the whole country.
Mr. Corapi, whether you agree with President Obama or not, you should realize that your superstition may make you call Obama immoral while other superstitions may call moral from their viewpoint.
It is not the government who imposes abortion , it is your sheepish catholic members who are ignoring many of your absurd moralities of anti-abortion, anti-contraception, anti-stem cell research, anti- same sex marriage , anti- euthanasia , ...
Your only option - not one I advocate - is to try to impose your views on your fellow catholics and then try to get more people to convert to your superstition.
By the way, where were you Mr. Corapi when President Bush went to Notre Dame when he started 2 wars of choice based on lies and deception that probably has cost 1 million lives in Iraq and has crippled the US and world economy ?
The catholic church never had any moral authority but has lost all respect when it became official that it is the largest pedophilia institute in the world and is co-responsible for 1.6 million HIV deaths in Africa every year.
MORALITY IS DOING WHAT IS RIGHT REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU ARE TOLD.
RELIGION IS DOING WHAT YOU ARE TOLD REGARDLESS OF WHAT IS RIGHT.
Obama deserves a lot of respect by leaving individual superstition to the individual.
What you are saying is an outrage and a scandal.
