NFL Winners and Losers: Brady, Jones-Drew, Ryan, Manning

| by

It's time for the Week 13 edition of 'NFL Winners and Losers.' Each week I will take a look at some of the bonehead plays, stupid decisions and horrible calls. I'll also give credit where credit is due and point out the good surprises each week. Here. We. Go.

WINNERS

Tom Brady: The guy led his team to a huge win over a division rival, threw four touchdown passed and picked apart one of the better defenses in the league helping the New England Patriots jump to first place in the AFC East. Brady is, without a doubt, the leading NFL MVP candidate thus far.

Brady is simply on fire. Think about it. The Patriots gave up Randy Moss, and they got better offensively. It's all Brady. He's having one of the best seasons of his career and despite the average New England defense; the Patriots are Super Bowl contenders primarily because of Brady.

Maurice Jones-Drew: Anyone paying attention to this guy yet? Jones-Drew has recorded 100 or more rushing yards in five consecutive games and launched himself into the MVP conversation out of nowhere.

Oh, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are in first place in the AFC East. Going into the season, I thought Jacksonville could very well be one of the worst teams in the entire league. I was waaaaaay off.

Matt Ryan: He just keeps doing it again and again and again. Matty Ice is the king of fourth quarter comebacks.

LOSERS

Peyton Manning: I never thought I would ever actually consider putting Peyton Manning in this category at any time during the season. But he just threw four interceptions in a single game... for the second week in a row... to the Dallas Cowboys.

Manning now has 11 interceptions in the last three games. 11! This week another two of his interceptions were returned for touchdowns. Not good.

The Indianapolis Colts are a game behind Jacksonville (that's right, Jacksonville) in the division and have a tough road game against division rival Tennessee in Week 14. Indianapolis, a team that usually rides an absurd winning streak every year, is now on a three-game losing streak. I'm not going to push the panic button just yet, because ya know, it's Peyton Manning. But they look out of sync. They look like there's something missing. They just don't look like the usual Indianapolis Colts.

Leon Washington: Wow. It's very dumb to celebrate early, but Leon Washington reached a whole other level of stupidity when he started celebrating at the 40-yard line. Washington's bonehead play allowed the punter to catch up with him and barely trip him up before reaching the end zone. Luckily for Washington, the play didn't really matter because Seattle dominated Carolina 31-14.

Pat Sims (Cincinnati Defensive Lineman)Don't jump offsides!!!!

Bills vs. Vikings: This game may have been high scoring. It may have featured a huge hit on a quarterback that most NFL fans are sick of hearing about. It may have featured an interim coach getting his second victory.

However, there were nine turnovers between the two teams! That's terrible football. - Michael Klopman
