NFL Takes Steps Towards Less Concussions, More Mental Health Safety

Player safety has emerged as one of the key issues on the NFL landscape. For years retired players, coaches and medical staff have argued that additional things needed to be done to ensure less concussions and more mental health wellbeing for all parties involved.

It took the unfortunate suicide death of ex-Chicago Bears player Dave Duerson to really push the proceedings along, but things are finally progressing. In a CNN special, Dr. Richard Ellenbogen and Dr. Hunt Batjer detail new sideline exams, extended recovery periods and other policy changes that the most popular sports league in America is making in order to make the gridiron a safer player for everyone.
