Auburn's Cam Newton Declares for NFL Draft

| by Off The Record

Shocking news from Michigan, Auburn QB Cam Newton has decided to forgo his final year of eligibility in school and will enter the NFL Draft, according to Jay G. Tate of the Montgomery Advertiser.

“Cam Newton has declared for the NFL Draft,” Tate tweets.

“This decision was difficult for me and my family,” Newton said. “I think it is best that I make that next step in my career and forgo my senior season and enter the NFL Draft. It was a very hard decision for me, especially after coming off the great season we had at Auburn. I’m blessed to have been around an excellent environment and have great teammates, coaches and support from the Auburn family.”

The move makes perfect sense. He’s proven that he can play at a high level and will probably be a top 10 or top five pick. Plus, if he stays in school, he has a very good chance of racking up more NCAA violations. Who knows what he’ll do next!

With Andrew Luck returning to Stanford, is there a chance Cam Newton goes first overall? It would certainly energize the Panthers’ fan base.
