MMA Analysis: Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi at UFC 135

| by

UFC officials announced that Takanori Gomi will be the man to welcome Nate Diaz back to the weight class he belongs in at UFC 135 in September.

Not only did Nate’s brother Nick beat Gomi with one of the more classic submissions of all time (gogoplata), he did it high. This lead to the loss being eventually overturned and one of the greatest fights in PRIDE history becoming a No Contest.

Both Diaz and Gomi have gone 1-2 in there last 3 UFC fights. Nate has dropped two straight against rising stars while Gomi has fell victim to a couple of crafty veterans. This fight between Nate and Gomi isn’t one that carries any title implications, but rather a fight for the fans. Its one that rewards the guys and girls who appreciate the characters of the sport and the history that is now being written with it. It’s one that many MMA fans will be looking forward too even more so than the Main Even on this card. It’s also one that you can pretty much prepare the bonus check for either one or both of these Mixed Martial Artists after the show.

UFC 135 will take place at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado and is schedule to be headlined by the light heavyweight championship bout between Jon Jones and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
