Many moons ago, last September to be exact, we brought you a trailer for what appeared to be a charming little film called Song for Marion with the incomparable Vanessa Redgrave, Terence Stamp and Gemma Arterton. So we saw the trailer around festival time and then…nothing.
Apparently Harvey and The Weinstein Company have been playing movie title Scrabble again and have renamed this little gem the much less character specific, Unfinished Song. This new trailer seems to focus less on Redgrave’s Marion and more on Stamp’s Arthur as well. It’s still charming. Take a look:
“A wonderfully, heart-warming story of a loving marriage between grumpy pensioner Arthur (Terence Stamp) and the ever-cheerful Marion (Vanessa Redgrave).
Cantankerous but doting husband Arthur does not share his wife Marion’s passion for performing. While she is happy to sing her heart out with the unconventional local choir, Arthur would prefer to hide himself away and complain about how embarrassing it all is.
But when heartbreak strikes, Arthur is forced to re-think his outlook on life. With the steady perseverance of choir director Elizabeth (Arterton), Arthur begins to find a way to come out of his shell and in the process forms a touching relationship with Elizabeth as well as a desire to build bridges with his estranged son James (Christopher Eccleston).”
Unfinished Song is directed by Paul Andrew Williams and has a US and UK release date of February 8. imdb meanwhile is still calling it Song for Marion.
