Born on the island of Cyprus in 1969 to diplomat parents, Nicki grew up all over the globe. A wanderlust that her upbringing had instilled in her led Nicki to India in 1991 to study yoga. She went to Mysore to meet Sri K Pattabhi Jois (Guruji) and immediately realized she had found her teacher.
Nicki started teaching in 1992. She cites Pattabhi Jois, along with Eddie Modestini, Gabriella Giubilaro, and Tim Miller among her most influential teachers. She is an authorized teacher of Ashtanga Yoga. Although rooted in Ashtanga, Nicki’s teaching goes beyond the traditional. Her classes combine asana, pranayama, philosophy, and poetry. The emphasis is on awareness: creating integrity within each pose that can be carried beyond the mat into daily life.
Rodney & Colleen Saidman Yee
Rodney Yee took his first yoga class in 1980 and knew from the start that it would be a lifelong passion. In 1987, he co-founded Piedmont Yoga Studio in Oakland, California. He teaches workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings worldwide. He helped create and is featured in Gaiam’s online yoga club and is the Executive Director of Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Program, a 500-hour program that trains therapists to work with patients in hospitals and other settings using five integrative modalities – yoga therapy, aromatherapy, reiki, contemplative end-of-life care, and nutrition.
Colleen Saidman Yee graduated from Jivamukti Yoga’s teacher training program in 1998 and has been teaching ever since. She is co-owner of Yoga Shanti in Sag Harbor, New York.
Nancy Kate’s enchantment for the practice shines in her ability to hold space for students to go inside and create personal transformation in a fun, loving & supportive environment. Her classes focus on integrity of alignment and intention in every moment with sequencing that is thoughtful, deliberate, balanced and challenging. She trusts that it is through this precise way of practicing that we create the awareness to learn about our bodies, our selves and how we relate to the world…deepening all the connections in our lives. Her passion for the foundation of yoga, it’s roots & philosophy, was ignited through her early training in the Sivananda organization. In search of a sustainable vinyasa practice based in alignment with an emphasis on philosophy she discovered Maya Yoga, and began to study with Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini completing several training programs at their studio on Maui.
My goal is simple. I want to clear my own personal energy and feel lighter when I’m done. I weave the audience into my experience and bring them up with me – have you ever seen the back of the hall during the concerts? – just bouncing, everybody up and down, the whole back of the room pulsating with energy… sometimes it’s a rush of bliss, and sometimes it’s meditative. I’m not looking for it to be anything in particular. I know what it feels like. I know the energy. I know where I am supposed to go. I just bring people on that path with me and enjoy the music.
Satkirin Kaur Khalsa
Satkirin Kaur Khalsa is one of the most beloved and prolific Shabd Kirtan singers of all time. Introduced to a holy life of Kundalini Yoga and Sikhism by her teacher Yogi Bhajan forty years ago, Satkirin now serves the sacred sound current with a spiritual passion rarely seen in today’s world. Her music invites the listener to merge with the space of Shunia, the zero point of stillness where one can let go of the stress of the outer world and merge with divine love. Her voice reaches deep into the heart.
In her role as Sikh Minister, Satkirin was the first Guru Granthi of Guru Ram Das Gurdwara Los Angeles (1976-1992) and now serves the Manhattan sangat. As part of her mission to disseminate peace and service through music, Satkirin is a representative to the United Nations Department of Public Information for the NGO of the 3HO Foundation.

David Romanelli places great emphasis on creating and understanding “The Moment,” those instances where mind, spirit, body, and senses converge to reveal incredible clarity and beauty. At the podium, David defines three ancient forms of strength necessary to ward off distraction and live fully in the moment. One with access to the present moment is a healthier, more productive professional, a more attentive parent, and a more loving partner.
One need not commit to yoga, become a vegetarian, or toss the TV in order to discover the power of now. David teaches how everyday passions (exotic chocolate, fine wine, and great music) are accessible gateways to the present moment.
