In a stroke of marketing genius, a British man decided to resign from his job at the U.K.’s Border Agency by writing his resignation letter on a cake.

Chris Holmes, aka “Mr. Cake,” submitted his resignation cake on Monday, citing the reason of just becoming a new father and realizing how short and precious life his, and that he’d rather spend it with his family and pursing his cake business.

The creative resignation gained widespread admiration after Holmes’ brother-in-law, a PR rep, tweeted out a photo of the cake. Since then, the photo has gone viral.

Luckily, Holmes included his website toward the end of his letter and is now enjoying ‘capacity problems’ on his website, with plenty of business to go along with it.

Holmes' resignation letter read:

To the Management, Border Force, Stansted:

Today is my 31st birthday, and having recently become a father I now realize how precious life is and how important it is to spend my time doing something that makes me, and other people, happy.

For that reason, I hereby give notice of my resignation, in order that I may devote my time and energy to my family, and to my cake business which has grown steadily over the past few years.

I wish the organisation and my colleagues the best for the future and I remind you that, if you enjoy this cake, you can order more at
