At its Houston, Texas, convention this weekend, the National Rifle Association asked one of its vendors to take down a target dummy resembling President Obama.
The business, Zombie Industries, sells “life-sized” torso targets that bleed when shot during target practice. Among the targets displayed are “Bobo,” a creepy-looking clown, “Terrorist,” an Osama bin Laden look-alike and “Nazi.” For two days, a target named “Rocky” was displayed among the others, which is a green zombie with an uncanny resemblance to Obama.
According to BuzzFeed, one of the booth workers said that someone from the NRA came by to ask them to take it down.
"They thought it looked too much like President Obama,” the worker said.
The worker didn’t directly comment on if the likeness was intentional, but did admit, "Let's just say I gave my Republican father one for Christmas."
The company website hints at the politically-oriented nature of “Rocky.” The product description says:
A fighter from Detroit, Rocky got his nickname because of the odd shape of his face after a few matches left him a bit rutted in the head... Be warned, Rocky is HIGHLY dangerous due to his quick wit and strength… he was last seen screaming something like, "Zombie Industries believes in America!" And that we do.
Other companies, such as Conan, Inc. and OPSGEAR, are also selling targets and products with similar likeness to Obama. Though Zombie Industries did take down the target, they were still allowed to sell the product during the convention.
