Home building contractor David Gonzales recently found a rare comic book, Action Comics No. 1, which features the first appearance of Superman, in the wall of a house he was renovating in Minnesota.

The house was built in 1938, the same year the comic book was published.

Gonzalez did some research and learned that Action Comics No. 1 is one of the most valuable comic books. Actor Nicolas Cage sold the same comic for $2 million in 2011.

However, Gonzalez's comic lost value soon after he found it.

According to the Associated Press, Gonzalez got into a fight with a relative about the comic, and the back cover got ripped.

Oops.

Thanks to the damage, tonline auctioneer ComicConnect.com had to downgrade the comic's condition (and value).

So far the online auction for Gonzales' comic is up to $135, 000. The auction will end on June 11.
