Mom Insisted Bride-to-Be Buy Scale to Keep Weight Down
Katie from Oklahoma City was getting married. Naturally, her mother was ecstatic. She paid for Katie's wedding dress -- and scales -- so that Katie could still fit into the dress on the big day.
Digging through her basement recently, Katie found the note her mother had written to accompany the check for the scales, and she posted it to Passive Aggressive Notes.
"You are beautiful now. We are sure you will be a beautiful bride," the note begins.
Then its tone turns decidedly less sweet. "To help insure our wedding dress investment, please buy some scales of your choosing with this money and weigh yourself once a week."
Wow, Mom. Way to promote a healthy body image.
The note concludes, "We love you and want you to enjoy your wedding day. This gift might help with some of the stress."
Surprisingly, Katie says she found the note funny, "because it's just the way my Mom is." She also says, "I think I weighed about 115 pounds at the time this note was written."
