2. UFC back to Brazil: According to a report from GracieMag.com, the UFC will head to Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena in November of 2011. This will be 13 years since October 16, 1998 that the UFC would make a return to the country, the first and only time being UFC: Ultimate Brazil, an event that featured a bout between Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva, as well as the first UFC appearance of Pedro Rizzo. I’m surprised it’s taken so long. Their roster is filled with Brazilian talent.
3. Condit vs. Fitch: In an interview with MMAWeekly.com, Carlos Condit said he wants to fight Jon Fitch next. “I think Fitch, that would be a great fight. I think his game plan would be similar to (GSP’s) game plan. Wrestler probably try to take me down, and if I could deal with that then that is maybe a marker for how I might do in a title match.” So I guess he’s completely writing off Koscheck? I would love to see this fight. Make it happen Joe Silva. Fitch vs. Condit to see who gets the next shot.
4. Fitch vs. Ellenberger: According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, the UFC is targeting a bout between Jon Fitch and Jake Ellenberger for UFC 126 in February. The event takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV on February 5, Super Bowl weekend. UFC 126 will be headlined by a Middleweight Championship fight between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort. Ahhh, weak sauce! Fitch vs. Condit is much better. And if Ellenberger wins, he’ll get pushed to the front. If Fitch wins, no one cares. Lame.
5. Vinicius Quieroz released because of steroids: Vinicius Quieroz’s first appearance in the UFC last month at UFC 120 will also be his last. MMAJunkie.com is reporting that the Chute Box fighter tested positive for the steroid Stanozolol and has been released from the UFC immediately. The UFC conducted their own drug tests for the overseas event, as there is no regulatory body for the events in the UK. Eight fighters in all were tested, and Quieroz was the only one to test positive. A-X-E. Don’t cheat. I can’t stress that enough. It’s not IF you get caught. It’s WHEN. Ask Josh Barnett about that. On second thought, don’t. He obviously doesn’t get it.
