College Football Week 3 Rankings Released

| by SportsbookGurus

Now that Week 3 of the 2010 College Football Season has come to a close, we now get a chance to see how the new Top 25 looks in the polls. A couple of upsets moved some teams around a bit, but for the most part, it was a weekend that lacked big Top 25 matchups so not much has changed.

The top five of Alabama, Ohio State, Boise State, TCU and Oregon stayed where they were after the new polls were released Sunday afternoon. All of them won convincingly this weekend so they deserve to stay in the same spot for at least another week.

One team that dropped out of the top ten was No. 9 Iowa after they lost to No. 24 Arizona late Saturday. The win moved Arizona to No. 14 which is their best regular season ranking in twelve years. This allowed Arkansas to break into the top ten and also allowed Florida to jump up a spot to No. 9. Texas and Oklahoma both dropped one spot after unimpressive performances this weekend.

Saturday night featured two games that needed to be decided in overtime and one of them featured Michigan State. The Spartans made their first appearance in the Top 25 this week after needing a trick play in overtime of their game with Notre Dame to pull out a win and improve to 3-0 on the year. Also, Auburn and Clemson battled into an extra period and Auburn pulled out the win but managed to drop a spot in the polls.

The entire Top 25 better enjoy their spots for the week because next weekend features some these teams going head to head and someone has to go down. Some of these games include No. 12 South Carolina traveling to play Auburn and No. 15 LSU will host No. 22 West Virginia.

But probably the most intriguing game of the weekend appears to Boise State (facing most likely their last real test of the regular season) when they host No. 24 Oregon State. It is most likely that if they win this game, they will coast the rest of the season and once again find themselves in the midst of maybe missing out on the BCS championship game after another undefeated season. But there is still a lot of football left to play.
