It's been one year since Michael Jackson's untimely passing, and the world is paying tribute to the King of Pop's memory.
Jackson's family was to hold the official commemoration at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, Calif. In a statement released on Thursday, brother Randy Jackson said, "My family and I will be in attendance as we mourn the loss of our brother." On Thursday night, fans were already gathering ouside the cemetery.
A tribute will also be held at Jackson's family home in Gary, Ind. Mother Katherine Jackson and niece were expected to attend. City officials predicted thousands of fans would show up.
TV and radio stations across the U.S. are paying tribute to Jackson. Every major television network featured Jackson tributes on their morning news programs, while Jackson's music flooded the radio airwaves.

In New York City, the Apollo Theater planned to remember Jackson by holding a commemoration. The theater holds a special significance in Michael Jackson's history: The Jackson Five won amateur night there in 1967. It recently unveiled a plaque honoring Jackson in its Hall of Fame.
On Saturday, Los Angeles' Beverly Hilton Hotel will host "Forever Michael," a special fan tribute.
