Miami Heat’s Udonis Haslem Arrested for Marijuana

| by The Daily Heat

An eventful summer for the Miami Heat got one more twist early Sunday afternoon.

Miami heat forward Udonis Haslem was charged with marijuana possession, unlawful speeding and having illegal window tint according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Haslem was stopped around 3 p.m. on the Gratigny Parkway between Northwest 42nd and 57th avenues in Miami Dade after he got caught driving 78 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone.

It turns out President Trump's budget has $2 trillion error in it:

During the stop, the officer smelled “an odor of marijuana” inside Haslem’s 2008 Mercedes Benz. After a search, Haslem and his passenger, Antwain Fleming, were both arrested and charged with marijuana possession.

Now Haslem will have to await word from the NBA’s Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson for possible punishment. The league has been very image conscious over the past few years since the infamous “Detroit Palace Brawl,” and a game or two suspension would not be seen as anything out of the ordinary.

Haslem has deep ties to the state of Florida, specifically Miami. He won a state championship with Miami Senior High before playing at the University of Florida. There, he and teammate Mike Miller took the school to the 2000 NCAA championship game. After a brief year off playing basketball in France, he returned to the Heat in 2003. Eventually, he and guard Dwyane Wade (along with a large fellow named Shaq) won an NBA title with the Heat in 2006.

Neither the Heat nor the league has released any comments on the arrest.
