Gibson was set to film his cameo as a tattoo artist in the movie in the next two weeks, but director Todd Phillips revealed today that the actor will no longer be involved with the movie.
“I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team,” he said in a statement.
“But I realise filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”
Hangover 2 would have been Gibson’s first movie since The Beaver, the Jodie Foster-directed flick that has yet to see the light of day – it’s been shelved indefinitely.
