NFL: The Many Injuries of Maurkice Pouncey

| by Off The Record

Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey is not only dealing with a sprained ankle with ligament damage, but the rookie Pro Bowler is also suffering from a broken ankle.  Early reports show Pouncey as “highly doubtful,” “privately skeptical,” and “severely obese” for February sixth’s Super Bowl.

Pouncey suffered the injuries during the first quarter of the AFC Championship game against the New York Jets.  Jets coach Rex Ryan was working on his foot during the whole first half and wasn’t able to actually coach his team until the last 30 minutes.

The overwhelming possibility of Pouncey not playing leaves many Steelers fans worried that back-up center Doug Legursky could be the reason why the team loses to the Green Bay Packers.  Legursky seems to be an alright blocker, but tends to forget how to snap the ball which is a very important duty at the center position.

“He sometimes thinks Ben’s [Roethlisberger's] ankles are his hands,” a Steelers player told OTR.  “He just gets confused.  Other times he forgets he’s the center and just shoves the ball through his legs thinking he might step on it.”

Good luck Pittsburgh!
