Marriage Proposal Hoax Fools 18K Fans at NY Rangers Hockey Game

It's a common occurance at sporting events -- a man proposes to a woman on the big videoscreen. It always ends with the woman saying yes, they kiss, and the crowd goes wild. But at a New York Rangers game on Valentine's Day this Sunday, the woman said "no." While still being filmed, she stormed out to a chorus of boos from the 18,198 people in attendance at Madison Square Garden.

Some people wondered if it was an elaborate hoax. Well, according to a report in the New York Daily News on Tuesday, it was indeed one big fraud. Sources say it was an inside joke cooked up by game-presentation staff and carried out by paid actors who are, in real life, engaged.

Why would they boo her?

A woman doesn't have the right to reject a proposal?

Yes she has a right to reject the proposal...

However, if a guy goes through that level of forethought and effort to pop the question infront of 18,000 people... Common sense tells people that the answer should be yes.

Of course proposing in such a fashion does put tremendous pressure on the woman to say yes just because it is expected of her... Which she may or may not be ready to make such a commitment to the man in question.

Again, why should any one care????

How dare these people fool with the sanctity of marriage ? Oh yeah, seeing as over 50% of heterosexual marriages end in divorce , there is no sanctity of marriage, unless you count those of sanctimonious philanderers like Newt Gingrich , John McCain and Mark Sanford .
