About Sean Johnson & The Wild Lotus Band

New Orleans world music trio Sean Johnson and The Wild Lotus Band (Alvin Young and Gwendolyn Colman) is celebrated as one of the leading voices in Western kirtan music. Their music has been sold in Whole Foods stores nationwide. The band appears on Putumayo World Music’s recently released compilation Yoga and is signed to Nettwerk/Nutone Records, home of Sarah McLaughin, Barenaked Ladies, Krishna Das, and Jai Uttal.  They headline festivals and conferences worldwide and are the first kirtan band to ever play The New Orleans Jazz Festival. Don’t miss this rare hometown concert.

About Sistashree

For many years, Sistashree (Regina) has studied and practiced mantra meditation with her guru. The chants that she performs are time honored at the ashram in her guru’s village. In fact, these sounds are common to most of India. The chants have seen many incarnations, both in and out of meditation.

Although Sistashree’s chants have traditional origins, her style is unique. The musical instrumentation and arrangements add sounds, textures and flavors that define the African-American musical heritage. In a true organic way, her albums “High Places” and “Sacred Sounds” weave the music of the Mississippi Delta region, the black gospel church, the blues, jazz, funk, folk soul, rock, rhytm and blues, and the wisdom, of ancient Africa with the tonal energies of Sanskrit and Vedic chants.
