Man Puts 911 Call on Hold to Buy Drugs

| by DeepDiveAdmin

A 20-year-old Cleveland man has been arrested after placing 911 dispatchers on hold to buy drugs, according to the Associated Press. The article reports that Alejandro Melendez called police claiming that two men with guns were watching him and that he feared for his life.

According to police, Melendez hung up the phone and the dispatcher called him back. Melendez answered and asked the dispatcher to hold on, but the dispatcher was still able to hear what was being said.

The article reports, “A voice can be heard on the recording of the call saying: ‘What you need? A 10-pack? You need a 10-pack? All right.’ Police say ‘10-pack’ is slang for a bundle of heroin.”

The dispatcher contacted police immediately thereafter and Melendez was discovered at the location he had given. Cleveland’s WEWS reports that “they saw Melendez walking in heavy traffic and stopped him for walking in the street and having no identification.”

The police found cocaine in his trousers and arrested him for possession.
