Lawyer Says Letterman Blackmail Suspect Only Selling Screenplay

A TV news producer accused of blackmailing David Letterman in exchange for keeping quiet about his sexual affairs was only trying to sell the late-night comic a screenplay, the producer's lawyer said Tuesday.

I've heard some lame excuses in my time but this has got to be in the top ten. :) Like Dave would just cut a check for 2 mill for a screenplay. Pu-leeze! He needs a better lawyer
