One of the "American Idol" finalists picked a horrible time to get a sore throat -- on the day of the finale. And now she may have to drop out.

TMZ.com is reporting that Lauren Alaina struggled with her voice during rehearsals Tuesday afternoon, unable to perform a planned third song. TMZ's "spies" on the set said a doctor ordered Alaina not to sing or speak, and said there is a "real possibility" that she will not be able to perform on tonight's show.

If that does happen, the last singer ejected from the show, Haley Reinhart, would come back to sing against Scott McCreery to be the next "Idol" winner.

TMZ said producers were looking for Reinhart late Tuesday afternoon.
