L.A. Galaxy Set to Sign Former Phenom Freddy Adu?

| by World Soccer Reader

World Soccer Reader has learned that the Los Angeles Galaxy are close to signing American midfielder Freddy Adu. Adu has been looking for a move away from Benfica after spending last season on loan at Greek club Aris.

The 21 old attacking midfielder recently went on trial with Swiss club FC Sion, but did not receive an offer from the club. Adu made 9 appearances for Aris last season, scoring 1 goal.

Adu has struggled to become a regular first team player in recent years, being loaned out every season since 2008 to AS Monaco, Belenenses and Aris.

After signing with D.C. United at the age of 14, Adu went on to make 98 MLS appearances with D.C. and later Real Salt Lake before moving to Benfica in 2007.
