KFC's "Nasty" New "Skinwich" Just a Hoax

| by Mark Berman Opposing Views

The Internet was on fire Thursday with word of another gut-busting sandwich from KFC, following the successful and disgusting Double Down. Called the "Skinwich," it consisted of "5 layers of fried chicken skin, lumped on a bun and topped with white american cheese and bacon." A sandwich made of just chicken skin?! Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it is. It's all an elaborate hoax.

Well, not so elaborate, actually. According to the Chicago Tribune, the folks at a web site called Brain Residue concocted the sandwich, building it themselves from KFC chickens, and even reviewing the fraudulent meal. By the way, they called their own invention "nasty."

To further the hoax, they even named several KFC locations that were supposedly offering the Skinwich.

Reporters at the Trib were dubious, so in true muckraking fashion, they investigated. That entailed calling KFC and asking if it were true. Spokesman Rick Maynard said no, it wasn't, saying the Skinwich appears to be "just the result of someone having a little fun online."

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

KFC seems to be taking this all in stride, and in a little company PR, Maynard also said, "While there is nothing like the taste of KFC's Original Recipe, the best way to enjoy it is on a piece of KFC Original Recipe chicken."

Thus, the great Skinwich Hoax of 2010 is laid to rest.
