Kansas Abortion Doctor George Tiller Killed at Church
George Tiller, a doctor at the heart of the abortion debate, was shot and killed today while attending church in Wichita, Kan.
The Wichita Eagle was one of the first media outlets to report that the 67-year-old Tiller was gunned down just after 10 a.m. this morning in the lobby of the Reform Lutheran Church. Witnesses and a police source confirm Tiller was the victim.
The gunman got away. Police say they are looking for a white man who was driving a 1990 powder blue Ford Taurus. The FBI and the Kansas Bureau of Investigations are helping in the search, according to Wichita police Capt. Brent Allred:
"This is going to be a larger search than probably maybe just Wichita that we're looking for this individual. So we've got the resources coming in to help us with this investigation."
Tiller rose to national prominence because his Wichita clinic, Women's Health Care Services, is one of the few in the country that perform late-term abortions. The clinic has repeatedly been the target of protestors for more than 20 years, including some vandalism earlier this month, and a bombing in 1986. This is not the first time someone has tried to kill Tiller. He was hit in both arms during a 1993 shooting at the clinic.
The anti-abortion group Operation Rescue condemned the murder:
"We are shocked at this morning's disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down. Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tiller's family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ."
A body was removed from the church at about 12:30 p.m. Police are talking with possible witnesses who were inside the church. Allred said he doesn't know yet if the gunman and the victim exchanged words before the shooting:
"We've got several people going downtown This is going to be an investigation that is going to take a little while to get some of that information out."

After the death of Tiller I REFUSE to refer to these hypocritical self righteous individuals as pro-life . Instead, they are anti-choice.
To be pro-life then you must be a vegetarian /vegan who is opposed to abortion , the death penalty , murder in ALL instances, suicide, euthanasia , and all forms of war. Otherwise, you are a opportunistic hypocrite. If you meet these criteria, then I will more than willingly refer to you as pro-life. If not, sucks for you.
By the way, if there is a God, he will deal with Tiller, he isn't asking for your opinion on what will happen at the pearly gates. And I quote:
"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Mk. 4.24
Actually, a couple of questions.
A) Does this act constitute terrorism ,
B) Does this act constitute CHRISTIAN terrorism, in the same way that certain acts are labeled Islamic terrorism,
C) Do major christian organizations, and christian individuals, have an obligation to publicly and vocally denounce this sort of behavior?
D) What will be the aftermath of this? Donations towards pro-choice organizations have gone up considerably in the last day. I'd be very surprised if this event doesn't sway people towards the pro-choice banner.
Some of people in the prolife organizations are total nut jobs and some in the prochoice are also.
I do know of some in the prolife who are so full of love and would give there life for a unborn.
Not all are full of hate but I would say a big part of them are.
I AS A CHRISTIAN WILL DENOUNCE THIS SORT OF BEHAVIOR.
God gave us choices we are not puppet.
A Christian does not kill.
The definition of terrorism as per Princeton University:
"(the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear)"
So...a resounding YES.
Prolife or prochoice JESUS died for all
Well, I hope all the babies he aborted welcome him at the doors of ST. Peter and have forgiven him because he took their lives and made them suffer an unimaginable death. This doctor was the number one notorious killer of babies that were 7 months or older in the womb. If anyone is shedding tears right now it should be for all the babies and the mothers of those babies that will never see their children . I am a mother of twins born at 7 months. I have to say that I thank God I was raised to respect life because life is life and no one should of let him get away with what he has done for years. War ain't right either but we do it to get justice. Peace to his innocent family who had to live with a man that chose to kill for a living. Wake up America to the gruesome reality of ABORTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ask this question in a sincere spirit of dialogue and discussion:
Since you clearly believe that Dr. Tiller's murder was justified, what do you believe should happen to women who choose to recieve abortions? Should they be jailed? Face the death penalty ? Under your framework it would seem that these women have also committed murder, and that killing them would also be justified.
Dr. Tiller's "killing" as you put is justified in the cases where the mother's life is in danger and the unborn baby would not stand a chance of living and/or would suffer and die. The women did not commit murder (as defined by our current laws) and thus the reason they should/would not face the death penalty . This is why the courts are constantly listening to both sides. Until abortion becomes illegal, we can only share our views. As such, the constitution gives everyone the right to express their views. My view is that unless you are in the woman's shoe, people should refrain from passing judgment without facts. Some women have NO choice!!! Should such women die? Would you have chosen death for yourself?
It is easy for people to draw conclusions without facts. The fact is that while many women that have abortions were careless when they got pregnant and are cruel for having abortions, many women have no choice but to have an abortion . Thus, I think that before you pass judgment and praise Dr. Tiller's death, you should find out which circumstances led him to conduct the abortions he conducted. Late term abortion in particular, requires medical documentation before the fetus is aborted. This medical documentation is done by the woman's doctors and not the doctor who is to conduct the procedure. Thus, Dr. Tiller, in my opinion, would be doing the operations based on other doctors' determination that the fetus is better off in Heaven. I think you need to wake up to the reality of life of other women and praise God that you had your health twins.
But you say these things about a man who just died?
