Jalen Rose: LeBron James Won't Return to Cavaliers

| by Alex Groberman

In the ongoing saga known as “What Will LeBron Do?” we have had a number of theories and predictions on what James’ future will be after this summer.

Today, ESPN NBA analyst Jalen Rose offered this via his twitter account:

#NBA BREAKING NEWS (research/sources say) It is almost CERTAIN that LEBRON JAMES WILL NOT be returning to the CAVS! (Bulls/Heat/Clips)

Now what does this mean? Well, nothing. It’s just another in a long line of guesses/hopes/prayers on James’ fate that analysts are making so that if they get lucky, they can say they got it first.

That being said, Rose is a respectable figure in the industry, so some credibility is lent to the fact that he’s the one making this statement.

A few interesting thoughts and questions as it relates to this, though:

Would Dwyane Wade really want James on his team? Regardless of the media spin on who the leader of the franchise would be, everyone would still recognize James as the guy. Would Wade be okay with that? In some ways, it would make sense for Wade to prefer a Bosh/Boozer/Amare on his team rather than James.

Does James really want to go to Chicago and play in the shadow of Michael Jordan? Further, is that team even with the potential of adding another star player, really that much better than his current Cavs team? Does he think he can mesh with Derrick Rose’s “dominate the ball” style of play?

Is there really a chance that James will become a Clipper? Not a single even half-respectable player has wanted to play for them since Kobe Bryant used them as leverage for his Laker deal.

It will certainly be interesting to see how things unfold.

For now, all of Cleveland should be put on suicide watch ASAP, though.
