Is Fox News in Favor of Legalizing Marijuana?
by Paul Armentano
When the producer of the Fox News program ‘Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano‘ asked me to appear on air last week to discuss the issue of marijuana law reform, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect.
Fortunately it became clear from the host’s opening monologue that Judge Andrew Napolitano is a powerful and articulate friend of cannabis liberalization.
“The War on Drugs that the federal government has waged, and on which it has spent billions and billions of taxpayer dollars, has been a complete waste of time, money, and effort.
Take marijuana, for instance. It’s been grouped together and enforced by the Drug Enforcement Administration with real hardcore drugs like heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine. But states like California and soon New Jersey have pretty much legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes. While the federal government contends that … marijuana has the potential to promote cancer, patients of cancer and other similar ailments actually use marijuana to fight these deadly diseases.
So wouldn’t the federal government be better off creating the incentive to empower people to make the right choice, to make their own free choice, rather than persecuting them and prosecuting them for what the feds consider to be the wrong choice?”

Fox News is not for legalization. You can't navigate to "Freedom Watch" by clicking links from Fox's home page... you have to know the address or get linked to it by a site like this.
"Freedom Watch" is just a bone they threw to the Ron Paul people to try and make amends for keeping him out of the debate... bitches.
Napolitano agrees with Ron Paul about a lot of things, and this is one of them. I'm a bit surprised that they went there, but given the limited audience that "Freedom Watch" brings in, (F.W. is only a webcast and it is impossible to "stumble" onto it by navigating the Fox home page) my guess is that they just didn't think it would stir up too much of a fuss.
Here's another observation that I hope is way off: Fox News will NOT put a segment like this on anywhere near its main audience. Again, they're just trying to appeal to libertarians to position themselves for 2010 and 2012. Believe it. Fox still sucks, even if SLIGHTLY less than before.
I hope I'm wrong, but its starting to feel a little bit like 2001...
Fox needs to do what ever they can to get the youth to vote with them. Oh I mean republicans need to do what ever they can to get the youth, without a trust fund, to vote with them.
They would be as invisible as Independents were it not for the "trust funds". I don't like that (R)s and (D)s run control the elections with all their money either, but I dislike more the fact that (I)s never can get their foot in the door, even when they are the better of the 3 top candidates and have the most public support.
Perfect example would Ron Paul 08. He was silenced by all of the MSM except FOX.
FOX gets more crap than they deserve. MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, The NYT, and TIME get nowhere as much crap as they deserve.

Would've taken more votes from the (D) than the (R) that's why Fox was for it.
However I completely agree with anti 2 party system movement.
I believe George Washington told America that the government could and would fail with a 2 party system in control.
The parties have become more powerful than the branches of government that were made to keep a balance. This is a terrible thing.
Go independents (after Obama's 2 terms)
More so afterwards, when he accepted the (I) nomination and ran as an (I).
I think Obama is most likely a one-term president. You'd not choose Paul over Obama?

I wouldn't choose paul over Obama.
I like the idea of an independent running and winning, but I'm not a huge fan of Ron Paul .
As compared to Obama?

His anti government views.
Dismantle the FED?
Or do you feel it goes deeper?
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.
I like some of the ideas of the party, but to many of them (Dr. Paul) are wild cowboys that want to get rid of the government like Bush tried and I am opposed to that and with that being such a big part of the party I'm opposed to him.
