If God is Anything Like His Followers, I'd Rather Be in Hell

| by

I hear it day in and day out, the whole "repent and be saved" spill, from Christians, Muslims, etc. alike. Of course I pay no favorites and don't pick any group to single out about this, but quite frankly, I feel the need to tell you this: I'd rather be in hell.

If the way you live your lives is really representative of what your "God" is like, then I don't want anything to do with you nor do I want anything to do with your "God." You describe hell as separation from your "God" and boy is that ever music to my ears. Your "God" encompasses everything I deem to be morally abhorrent, so why would I want to spend eternity with him? So in reality, thanks for using that description for hell, it makes my decision not to convert to your religion that much easier.

Quite frankly, I think Dr. Richard Dawkins sums up your "God" nicely when he referred to the "God of the Old Testament" (who is also the God of Christianity and Islam) as a "misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully." That is definitely NOT a "God" I'd want to spend eternity with, and quite frankly, most of the either super-hardcore Christians or Muslims reflect many of the same traits that Dawkins describes.

I guess what I'm trying to say is quit wasting your time and quit wasting mine. You will not get me to follow your bloodthirsty, power-hungry, morally twisted "God," ever. Quite frankly it disgusts me to think I once believed that nonsense. That's what going to college and getting a real education does though, it makes you wake up and smell the roses.

Maybe someone else wants their mind to be infiltrated by your delusions, your time would be best spent on that. I'm a lost cause, so just give it up.
