Hypocrite? Palin Rips Obama and BP; Husband Worked for BP for 18 Years!

First the "drill baby drill" cheerleader criticizes President Obama for his reaction to the oil spill in  the Gulf of Mexico. Now Sarah Palin is lashing out at the administration for trusting those foreign devils, British Petroleum, which ran the rig.

Palin took to Twitter to say:

"Gulf: learn from Alaska's lesson w/foreign oil co's: don't naively trust- VERIFY. Livelihood affected by spill?Don't sign away remedy rights"

What Palin fails to mention is that according to The Huffington Post, that very same company that is not to be trusted, employed a man named Todd Palin for 18 years. If you recall, Todd is the self-proclaimed "First Dude" of Alaska (at least he was called that until a certain governor bailed out on the state in the middle of her first term) and Sarah Palin's husband.

The good folks at The Huffington Post also point out that an American company, the Republican favorite Halliburton, is involved with that ill-fated rig. In fact, speculation is that its own cement work caused the disaster.

And, another American company that Palin may have heard of, ExxonMobil, had a bit of trouble up in Alaska a couple of decades ago. Of course, the company was just Exxon when its Valdez tanker ran aground in Prince William Sound, causing what some consider the worst man-made environmental disaster ever.

So maybe Palin should indeed follow White House spokesman Robert Gibbs' advice: "My suggestion to Sarah Palin would be to get slightly more informed as to what's going on in and around oil drilling in this country."

During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years, according to financial disclosure records.

Here goes.

This is little more than a red herring designed to draw attention away from the fact that our sitting president is the largest recipient of BP money and has done very little to stop the spill.

It is idiotic to try and bring Sarah Palin into this as if she is part of the problem.

You people used to be smarter than this. Frankly, I'm quite disappointed.

Even Chris Matthews calls this month-long spill Obama's Spill, lol. This red herring is around Obama's neck.

Instead of referencing by proxy, you should go to the website and compare the numbers. CoRR, FactCheck, SourceCheck and even the WSJ have amply pointed out the fallacy of this statement.

Palin should stfu if she does not want her b.s. called.

I think the conspiracy that they are drumming up big- oil hate by prolonging the spillage is much more plausable than this BP payout...

Damn devil in the details, but thank the thorough consumer of internet media ...

Today, while our elected government officials in Washington fail to act in participating with BP to close the oil leak that is spewing millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, while preparations are being made in Congress to introduce a quadruple tax hike to pay for the cleanup. You're comparing apples to oranges. Todd working a blue-collar job isn't even comparable to Obama taking a bunch of money in campaign contributions and then basically sitting on his heels and letting BP twiddle away while the oil slick spreads.

Todd worked while she was Governor. The oil companies still hated her. She still held their feet to the fire.

As for Palin's level of "informed," people need to do some research :

Are you seriously referencing a commercial for a campaign book as objective quality evidence of your argument?

Seriously?

This is why the neoconservatives attack college educated people as elites. They know how to proof a source...

This book has more fan reviews on Amazon than critical reviews anywhere, mostly because it's only mentioned on campaign sites and a few fanpages. Apparently it sucks, except to extol Palin as a real wheeler-dealer, pimping her state out to the highest bidders for much higher prices than most Gov's can claim - read and learn Arnold!

But seriously, it's hard to give her much credit even in this arena when even the site you link calls for her continued effort after the campaign - oops...

Hey, Hardly -- Palin took in MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH in campaign contribs from the oil cos. than Obama. Check the campaign contribution numbers. I guess you're hardly right. . . .

Obama has been paid more by BP than anyone else in our government .

Let's hear your excuse for THAT?!

I was pleasently surprised that you referenced one of my favorite info sources for this point.

I was disappointed however to be unable to corraborate your claim with data from their database.

In fact, BP has not given all that much to him, and deffinitely less than half what they gave to the GOP Presidential campaign.

But, Obama's stunning success with individuals put him way over everyone else from people working for BP, muc like he got the majority of support from everyone else.

Hooray for democracy ...
