How Pets Keep Us Present

| by

After the snowiest winter in recent memory, my fellow Bostonians and I were hoping we’d seen enough of the white stuff. It would appear we were wrong. This morning dropped a few more inches, but I didn’t mind one bit, thanks to an unexpected meditation teacher, who was so thrilled with the present moment (and thoroughly smitten with a Cockapoo from Beacon Hill), that I couldn’t help but feel the same way (about the snow, not the Cockapoo). If I looked at this morning’s charming little dusting on its own, it was quite lovely. Not a nuisance. Not particularly cold. Not an extension of any storms that came before it. Just a peaceful morning, enjoying the present, with my favorite four-legged companion.
