In a recent interview with Harpar Bazaar, LeBron James and his long-time girlfriend (and mother of his two children), Savannah Brinson, we got two varying viewpoints on love and relationships. When asked how she felt about James, Brinson had this to say:
“I just love him so much. We’re soul mates.”
When the question was posed to James, the Heat superstar managed to turn a loving remark into a something that sounded like an explanation for why he loved Dwyane Wade:
“A person like myself always needs a great sidekick and a person you can rely on no matter the circumstances. And she’s that. She’s got my back, and I love her for that.”
Prior to this interview, most assumed that James’ sidekicks were limited to his small entourage of enablers, ESPN executives and teammates Wade and Chris Bosh. Turns out, however, the mother of his children is his the Robin to his Batman. Also interesting is how James continues to use sentences such as: “A person like myself.” You know, because he's of that magnitude and all.
Later, the interviewer asked Brinson how she felt about James refusing to marry despite the pair having two kids.
“I’ve definitely not put a fire under his ass,” she says. “I would never rush him to do something like that. We’re really comfortable with the way things are now. And it’s not up to me. When it happens, it happens.
“We talk about it. If we do it, I want it to be forever. I’m the mother of his children,” she says proudly. “I’m not a baby mama. There’s a lot more to me than that.”
