A woman in Romania was heartbroken to discover that instead of being pregnant, she had an 11-pound tumor.

According to reports, 42-year-old Madalina Neagu thought she was going into labor after arriving at a local hospital with severe abdominal pain. After numerous tests, doctors at the hospital found a massive tumor in her uterus.

"As the woman told us she was pregnant, we initially expected pregnancy complications,” Dr. Dorian Scladan said. “In fact, the size of her belly was quite similar to that of a nine-month pregnant woman, so we didn't have any reason to doubt what she told us.”

Doctors performed surgery to remove the giant mass, and Neagu was transferred to intensive care. Doctors expect her to make a complete recovery.

“We don't often see a tumor of this size and in this location. It was a record tumor for the region in the past 15 years,” Scladan said.
