Anti-Contraception Republican Rick Santorum May Run for President Again (Video)

| by Michael Allen

Former 2012 Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who once voiced his support to banning birth control, is considering another run for the presidency in 2016.

Santorum appeared on "Meet the Press" this morning with MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, who stated: “You’re already prepping for 2016," reports RawStory.com (video below).

"Meet the Press" host David Gregory asked Santorum, "I spent time with you in Iowa, you had a very successful run there, you're headed back there for a family summit, are you laying the groundwork now for 2016?”

"I’m open to looking at a presidential race in 2016, but we got a little ways, we got elections in 2014 to focus on first,” said Santorum, who was voted out of his U.S. congressional seat in 2006 and has not held public office since.

In January 2012, Santorum told ABC News that states should be allowed to ban contraception: “The state has a right to do that, I have never questioned that the state has a right to do that. It is not a constitutional right, the state has the right to pass whatever statues they have. That is the thing I have said about the activism of the Supreme Court, they are creating rights, and they should be left up to the people to decide."
