Video: British Woman Hazel Jones has 2 Vaginas
A British woman is going public with her very rare medical condition -- she has two vaginas.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, 27-year-old Hazel Jones suffered severe cramps and heavy periods during puberty. She just chalked it up to ordinary women's issues.
Then when she was 18 her boyfriend told her she was "different" down there, so she went to see a doctor. He told her just how different she was. Hazel took the news in stride.
"Once I found out what it was I told everybody," she told ITV's "This Morning." "I thought it was amazing and it's definitely an ice-breaker at parties."
Jones is also different on the inside -- she has two uteruses.
"When developing in the womb girls start with two tubes. These fuse and the septum breaks down and forms one uterus," said Dr. Dawn Harper, who appeared on the show with Hazel. "In around one in 3,000 cases the septum stays within the uterus but to actually have two separate uteruses is much rarer."
Hazel said she turned down the option of having surgery to correct things because it could have left her with scar tissue. She's happy the way she is, and she is not ashamed of it.
"If women want to have a look, I'm quite happy to show them, it's not something I'm embarrassed by," she said.
