'Stop The Habit': Woman Says Her Terminal Breast Cancer Was Caused By Cell Phone In Bra

After getting diagnosed with breast cancer, U.K. woman Wendy Holt blamed the mobile phone she kept in her bra every day as the cause.

Holt, a 51-year-old mother of one, kept her phone in her bra every day for the past decade so that it would be in easy reach, the Daily Mail reports. However, after getting diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 with no history of cancer in her family, she became convinced that the cell phone had caused the cancer.

Just before Holt was diagnosed, the 51-year-old noticed that one of her breasts looked swollen. Although cancer didn’t immediately come to mind, she decided to seek medical attention. It was then that she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of inflammatory breast cancer.

“I got my first phone in around 1999 and I was quite big-busted, so I would store it down there and nobody would be able to tell,” Holt said, according to the Daily Mail. “It was pressed against my skin for probably 70 per cent of the day for about ten years -- and I didn't give it a thought.”

Although Holt managed to survive her breast cancer, the disease continued through her lungs and lymph nodes. Now that she has a terminal diagnosis, it’s unlikely that she will live through her next birthday.

“I want to speak out to make other people stop the habit,” Holt noted. “People might disagree with my theory, but it’s my belief and I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.”

Holt added that she believes keeping a cell phone in a pocket is better than keeping it in a bra where it can touch skin.

To date, Holt has had five months of chemotherapy and currently takes medication to keep the cancer at bay. Holt plans to visit Malta later in the year for a family holiday in case it’s her last.
