A photo has surfaced of a Taco Bell employee licking a pile of taco shells, causing taco eaters to worry he was contaminating the food.
The photo was posted on Taco Bell's Facebook page. While it is unclear whether the man was licking a pile of tacos that he was about to serve to customers, or if the taco shells were destined for the trash, it has many thinking twice about the company.
Spokesman Rob Poetsch said in an email to The Huffington Post that the company has "strict strict food handling procedures and zero tolerance for any violations."
"When we learned of the situation we immediately contact this restaurant's leadership and although we believe it is a prank and the food was not served to customers, we are conducting a full scale investigation and will be taking swift action against those involved," he said.
The caption on the photo read, "This sure says a lot about your employees, food treatment, and what they post on the Internet."
The worker isn't the first fast-food employee to make a viral photo this year. Earlier, a KFC worker was fired for posting a photo on Facebook of her coming close to licking mashed potatoes.
