Red Robin Onion Rings Recalled From U.S. Supermarkets

| by Erik Kindel

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Lamb Weston foods are recalling Red Robin Burgers and Brews Crispy Onion Rings sold in supermarkets across the U.S. due to an undeclared allergy alert in the products.

Though there have been no reported illnesses in connection with these products as of yet, the FDA and Lamb Weston issued the recall because the foods may contain milk, an unlisted allergen.

The recalled products are 14-ounce packages of Red Robin Burgers and Brews Crispy Onion Rings manufactured by Fry Foods, according to Lamb Weston. These are not products served in any Red Robin restaurants; they are only distributed through retail grocery stores.

No other products are impacted by the recall, notes Lamb Weston.

The products are frozen, contain the sell by dates of Oct. 28, 2018 or Oct. 29, 2018 and the UPC "0 43301 61119 3," according to the FDA recall.

The affected package codes, which are found on the back of the package, are "6906711841 HH:MM" and "6906711941 HH:MM." The "HH:MM" note on the package code will vary by package because it indicates the time the product was made, The Morning Call notes.

Fry Foods, the contracted manufacturer for the products, initiated the recall after it discovered it accidentally packed products containing milk in packaging that did not disclose the presence of milk.

Further investigation revealed that the product did not meet Lamb Weston specifications, either.

The presence of milk without the disclosure of the allergen puts those with severe allergies and sensitivity to milk at risk. If a person with a severe milk allergy or sensitivity consumes the product, then they could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

If you or anyone you know have purchased Red Robin Burgers and Brews Crispy Onion Rings, the FDA and Lamb Weston urge you to return the product to wherever you purchased it from for a full refund. Fry Foods, Lamb Weston and the FDA are working to pull the product from store shelves across the country and ensure the products are no longer distributed to supermarkets.
