Plastic Surgery Nightmare: Lauren Yardley's Breast Implant Falls Out of Body

Two sisters from England were excited to get breast implants together, but the excitement didn't last long.

Lauren Yardley, 25, had the surgery to increase her bust from an A cup to a DD cup.

Things seemed fine until two months after the surgery, when her right breast swelled larger than her left and it began feeling hard and painful.

Doctors told her that her body was rejecting it, something she was warned could happen but thought was unlikely.

She then had surgery to fix the implant, however, it only got worse. Eventually, it became so bad that her implant fell out of her body through her stitches.

Capsular contracture, when the scar tissue shrinks around the implant, is common after breast enhancement surgery, but doctors never expected it would be so severe.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Yardley said. “The doctors at the hospital said they had never seen anything like it - they couldn’t believe I was not in septic shock.”

“When I booked the operation they told me it was common for the body to reject implants - but I had no idea this could happen.”

After they removed the implant, they could not immediately put another one in, so Yardley spent six months with one small breast and one DD-sized breast.

“I feel very lucky - it could have been a lot worse. The most horrific thing was having only one breast for seven months. It was horrible,” she said. “I felt really confident after having my implants, but I lost it all again when I was left with an uneven chest.”

She wanted the surgery because she felt like she looked like a boy.

“I wanted to look more like a girl,” she said.

Her sister, who also had her breasts done the same day, had no complications.

Yardley is not regretful of the experience, though, and said she would do it again.

“People always ask me if I would have implants again after all I have been through, but I always say yes,” she said, “I don’t regret it at all.”
