Doctors Alarmed By Lesions On Kurt Russell's Lip (Photo)

Reports are spreading that Kurt Russell has a serious ailment and needs medical attention after doctors noticed some bloody scabs along his lower lip.

"I've never seen anything quite like these," Dr. Stuart Fischer told Radar Online in a March 7 publication. "They need to be examined immediately."

Fischer said that he has not treated the 65-year-old "Escape From New York" actor but believes that Russell "needs to get to the bottom of this immediately."

The rumors come after a March 1 story from the Globe tabloid, which showed the "Overboard" actor with dark, blood-filled blisters below his lip and stated that he had a flesh-eating disease wearing away at his face.

Dr. Otto Placik, a board-certified plastic surgeon, told the tabloid that the sores are "highly suggestive" of a "premalignant lesion."

Others suggested that the blisters could have come from a cosmetic procedure, although plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn told Radar Online that was unlikely.

"It's not like any procedure I've ever seen," Youn said to Radar.

Both publications suggested that the sores could be the result of Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, which causes polyps to grow around the stomach and intestines, according to Genetics Home Reference. The growths are not cancerous but can cause obstructions, bleeding and pain.

The disease can cause small, dark spots on the lips and around the mouth, although they typically form during childhood and fade with age. The syndrome is frequently diagnosed through genetic testing and significantly raises the likelihood that the individual will have cancer in their lifetime.

"[Russell] needs to have these looked at and have a physician conduct immediate tests," Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who has been board certified for more than 40 years, told Radar Online. "They could be the result of a serious infection."

Russell made waves in mid-January, when Radar reported that he was spotted having a row with longtime partner and former co-star Goldie Hawn outside their Malibu home. The pair has been together for more than 30 years and have a son together, although they never married. According to Radar, the couple rushed outside after a disagreement. Hawn slammed down the trunk of her car and rushed away with her car door still open, while Russell followed her out and drove off with a traffic cone wedged under his car.

However, Gossip Cop notes that there is no evidence that the couple have a rocky relationship or that the incident was in fact an argument.
