A Miami man is being held without bail after engaging in sexual activity with a minor and later sending explicit photographs to the girl’s father.
Additionally, Tavaris Adams, 28, also threatened to kill the girl’s grandmother, according to officials.
A Hollywood, Florida, police report indicates Adams is now facing a slew of charges following his sexual relationship with the 15-year-old girl. Adams has formally been charged with lewd and lascivious activity with a minor, promoting the sexual performance of a child, transmitting child pornography and threatening to kill a witness.
Despite being held on $255,000 bond for the above charges, Adams is currently being held without bond for a probation violation, according to online jail records.
NBC Miami reported Broward County Circuit Judge John Hurley read Adams his charges on Thursday, stating that the events in question took place between May 1, 2011 and Aug. 31, 2012.
In court, Adams denied the charges, telling the judge, "This is 2013, sir."
"Allegedly, you sent text messages to the father telling him that you were having sex with his daughter," Hurley added. "I'm not going to get specific - it's not appropriate - but suffice it to say it's explicit."
The girl's father told police he began getting the text messages after getting into an argument with Adams over the phone about his sexual relationship with his daughter, the NBC report states.
When the relationship began, the girl told Adams she was 17 and he told her he was 20. When he found out her real age, he continued the relationship.
