A newborn baby girl shocked a midwife and a nurse by reportedly walking only minutes after being born in a Brazilian hospital (video below).
The mighty mite went viral on May 26 after a video of her effort was posted on social media, notes The Sun.
In the video, the midwife supports the baby's chest with one arm while the baby struggles to walk by herself.
A nurse states: "Oh my gosh, the girl is walking. Good gracious!"

Another voice says: "Wait, let me film this."
The people in the video call for a colleague to watch the tiny tot's traveling escapades: "Ju Ju, come and see this."
"Merciful father, I was trying to wash her here and she keeps getting up to walk," the midwife says on the video. "She has walked from here to here."
"Wow, she is so cute it’s amazing," a witness says. "If she’s like this now, I can just imagine how precocious she is going to be as she grows up."

The midwife adds: "Heavens above. If you told people what has just happened no one would believe it unless they saw it with their own eyes."
The Independent took a skeptical position on the walking baby, explaining that the apparent "walking" motion could be a primitive reflex action that occurs when babies are held upright with their feet touching the floor.
The Daily Mail reported on the story, and many of its readers also questioned the walking in the comments section:
It is a perfectly normal newborn reflex.....like the grasp reflex and the rooting for the nipple with the mouth when you touch the baby's cheek.
All babies do that I've seen so many viedos of babies walking. Sorry this is not new news.
I'd be worried to have those midwives and "surgeons," they seem to know rather little about reflex actions in a newborn.
That baby is not walking. It's being held vertical while it "kicks" its legs. This is a reflex and definitely nothing to be freaking out over.
Almost ALL babies do this... even my own boy who was born prematurely did! Nothing to see here... move along.
All babies do this it's no big deal. And also new moms out there please don't try to get baby walking too soon when you think it's real cute, the only thing you're doing is making baby bow legged while the bones are still soft, they'll let you know when it's time.
