After Heather Clark's 7-month-old son Lukas died in 2013, she donated his organs to children in need. One of those kids was Jordan Drake, a 4-year-old girl who received Lukas' heart. Drake and Heather met for the first time on Jan. 29 at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona (video below).
During the meeting, Heather used a stethoscope to listen to her son's heart beating inside the young girl, notes Mediate.
Jordan was born with a heart defect, according to Donate Life America, which produced the video of the tearful meeting.
“We’re family now," Esther Gonzalez, Jordan's mother, said. "We’re friends now.”
"There is another family out there, somewhere, who is feeling something like what I'm feeling, somewhat, and I have the chance to make them not go through what I'm about to go through," Heather told KSAZ.
"[Lukas] was just so outgoing, he was just a little ham,” Heather added. “If there was a camera in front of him he was either smiling or sticking his tongue out."
Heather's son reportedly died after being abused by the boyfriend of her babysitter. Heather says Lukas' organs have saved three lives.
