More than three-fourths of adults in the U.S. are either overweight or obese according to August 2015 research published in JAMA Internal Medicine. But some parts of the U.S. are fatter than others.

Mississippi topped the list as the fattest state, followed by Louisiana, West Virginia, Tennessee and South Carolina. In contrast, the fittest state was Hawaii.

That’s not to say Mississippi has the highest number of overweight residents, although it does have the dubious honor of having the most obese people. Nevada has the highest percentage of overweight people, followed by Alaska and Connecticut, WalletHub reported.

Mississippi took the cake in WalletHub’s state rankings. Mississippi also ranked No. 1 for highest percentage of obese children, adults eating less than a serving of fruits and vegetables every day and physically inactive residents.
