Scary fact: the world has a huge heart disease problem.

Using data from the World Health organization, the Global Post put together a map showing which disease is most likely to kill you in every country around the world.

With the exception of the ongoing HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa, the overwhelmingly dominant disease on the map is heart disease:

According to the CDC, roughly 600,000 people in the U.S. die every year from heart disease. That’s an estimated 1 in every 4 deaths. Though the problem of heart disease is a nationwide problem, fatality rates from the disease vary widely across the country. As this map from the Centers for Disease Control shows, the southeastern region of the U.S. is by far the most affected region:
