Man Divorces Wife Because She Was Born Without Vagina

| by Lauren Briggs

Sometimes reality television is stranger than fiction.

People around the world are talking about an episode of a courtroom TV show in which a man attempts to divorce his newlywed wife after learning she was born without a vagina. He also claims he caught her in bed with her own mother.

"I'm not like other women," the estranged wife, Tania, explained on the Spanish legal reality show "Caso Cerrado" ("Case Closed" in English), according to the Daily Mail. "I was born without a vagina. I was born with Rokitansky syndrome. It's a congenital abnormality where a woman's vagina is either extremely small or non existent. In my case it was nonexistent."

Tania told the show's host, Ana Maria Polo, that she has ovaries, but was born without a vaginal cavity and without a uterus.

The pair said they dated for a year before marrying, and upon Tania's request, she and her fiance, Alejandro, waited until marriage to have sex.

But on their wedding night, Tania did not want to consummate the relationship. Instead, she hurried away, and Alejandro said he then caught Tania's mother penetrating her with a dildo.

"I am here to sue this shameless tramp," the man said on the program. "I demand a divorce and I'd like to have her removed from the deed to my apartment. I caught her having sex with her supposed 'mother' on the night of our honeymoon."

Alejandro told his side of the story first. As the bizarre story unfolded, Judge Polo became increasingly skeptical, but the man stuck to his account.

"I know what I saw, I got mad and left and moved in with a friend," Alejandro continued, according to The Sun. "I've been living there for a month now while they’re living a life of sin inside my apartment."

Tania said that after her engagement, she had surgery to form a vaginal canal, notes the Daily Mail.

"After having surgery, I dreamed of giving myself to him as his wife," she explained. "I know he has needs and as his wife, it's my duty to meet those needs."

But their wedding night did not go as smoothly as she had planned.

"It was awful," she continued. "I couldn't handle the pain. I started crying and totally freaked out. I felt mad at myself for failing as a woman. I wanted to satisfy him."

She said she had her mother help her dilate her vagina in preparation, and this is what her husband walked in on.

Despite everything that happened, Tania said she still loved her husband.

The judge granted the divorce after reprimanding Alejandro.

"Your story seems superficial to me," Polo told Alejandro, according to The Sun. "You're being offensive to many, many people -- especially people with your wife's condition. Your stance on this situation seems so absurd to me."
