| by Michael Allen

It's no secret that Americans pay far more for health care than most industrialized nations, but things are going to get worse for the "finest health care system in the world," as Newt Gingrich has called it.

The Center for American Progress says that national health care spending is estimated to increase from 18 percent of the economy, today, to about 25 percent by 2037.

The Center for American Progress has created this infographic to show what could be bought with the $2.8 trillion Americans spend every year on health care.
