Hays High School Bans Confederate Flag

Hays High School in Buda, Texas, has banned the Confederate flag from school district property and events.

School board members voted 5-2 on Monday to ban the flag, which was displayed with the school's Rebel mascot, reports the Associated Press.

The new ban also outlaws any imagery that is racially hostile, offensive or intolerant.

The ban came after two students were accused of writing racial slurs and urinating on the door of a black teacher's classroom in May.

However, the school board voted in October to keep 'Dixie' as the school fight song, which is a Confederate anthem.
